National League of Cities President Clarksburg (WV) Councilman James Hunt told mayors at a Sunday June 4 Plenary session that the NLC and the Conference of Mayors, along with the coalition of public interest groups, have made a significant difference that past year in defending and preserving the Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG).

Hunt said the NLC theme this year will be “A Nation of Inclusive Communities” and that the goal of inclusively makes for great American communities.

Hunt also thanked outgoing Conference President Long Beach Mayor Beverly O’Neill for working closely with the NLC the year of her presidency on common issues, including telecommunications legislation and other shared goals.
