Upcoming Forum: Understanding the Costs and Benefits of Cloud Computing for Your City

June 13, 2011

Join this non-technical, cloud basics forum and hear from the mayors of cities both large and small as they explain why they are moving to the cloud and the issues they think every mayor should understand before adopting cloud computing.  The mayors themselves will “de-mystify” this strategically important new computing trend and how it reshapes their thinking about the cost and adoption of technology, how to manage risk factors of security, privacy and compliance, and understanding new demands it places on agency workloads.

Cloud computing is so much more than just the latest technology industry buzzword.  Cloud computing provides a new and revolutionary opportunity for cities of all sizes to cut costs, provide essential citizen services quickly and efficiently, stimulate new collaboration between agencies and employees, and reap almost immediate benefit from new innovations.

This forum will be moderated by San Antonio (TX) Mayor Julián Castro. Panelists are Alexandria (VA) Mayor William D. “Bill” Euille, San Francisco Mayor Edwin M. Lee, Mukilteo (WA) Mayor Joe Marine, and Microsoft Corporation State and Local Government Vice President Gail Thomas Flynn.
