Trenton (NJ) Mayor Palmer to be Presented Conference of Mayors' Highest Award in Oklahoma City

The Executive Committee of The U.S. Conference of Mayors has voted to present Trenton (NJ) Mayor Douglas H. Palmer the highest award given to an individual by mayors of the United States of America: The United States Conference of Mayors Award for Distinguished Public Service.
Palmer was nominated by Conference of Mayors Past President Charleston (SC) Mayor Joseph P. Riley, Jr., seconded by Conference President Burnsville (MN) Mayor Elizabeth B. Kautz.
Palmer, currently completing his final year after five terms as mayor of Trenton (1990 - 2010) served as the 65th President of The United States Conference of Mayors from December 2006 until June 2008. He was also elected as President of the National Conference of Democratic Mayors and the New Jersey Conference of Mayors.
As President of The United States Conference of Mayors, Palmer led the development of the Mayors 10-Point Plan: Strong Cities, Strong Families, for a Strong America that resulted in the creation and funding of the historic Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant.
The award will be presented to Palmer at the City Livability Luncheon on Saturday, June 12 during the 78th Annual Conference of Mayors in Oklahoma City.
