Ashe Confirmed by Senate as Ambassador to Poland

As U.S. Mayor goes to press, former Knoxville mayor Victor Ashe informed us that the United States Senate confirmed his nomination by President Bush to be U.S. Ambassador to Poland.
Ashe is expected to be posted to serve in Warsaw with wife, Joan, in mid-July.
After Senate confirmation, Ashe said he appreciated the strong support of both Tennessee Senators Bill Frist, Senate Majority Leader; Lamar Alexander and Indiana Senator Richard Lugar, Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee.
