Mayor Hannemann to Lead Community Trees Task Force

Conference President Long Beach Mayor Beverly O’Neill has appointed Honolulu Mayor Mufi Hannemann to chair the new Community Trees Task Force.
This new task force will examine challenges facing local urban forestry programs, such as the Asian long horn beetle, and will develop best practices of local community trees programs. The task force will also provide suggestions to the Excellence in Community Trees Awards Program which is co'sponsored with the Home Depot Foundation.
The Community Trees Task Force will hold its first meeting at the upcoming 74th Annual Conference of Mayors being held in Las Vegas. The task force will meet on Friday, June 2 from 10:30 to 11:30 am.
