Forty local employees/cyclists from Boston and surrounding cities joined Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino, Boston Bike Coordinator Nicole Freedman and Bay State Bike Week organizer Jim Gascoigne as they ride from City Hall Plaza to Post Office Square to kick off the first annual Mayor Menino’s Bay State Bike Week, held May 12-16. More than 5,000 people were expected to participate in the week’s events, with the goal of encouraging more people to bike by asking them to bike to work.
