MWMA to Host Webinar on "Workers Compensation - Dealing with Rising Costs and Reduced Efficiency" June 2

May 16, 2011

One of the most significant roles of today’s municipal solid waste official is risk management. It’s also one of the most significant budget items. That’s why the Municipal Waste Management Association (MWMA), The U.S. Conference of Mayors environmental affiliate, will be hosting a free webinar on workers compensation issues. The webinar is scheduled to take place on Thursday, June 2 at 2:00 p.m. Eastern time.

During this discussion, cities will share their experiences, challenges and - hopefully - best practices in reigning in rising workers’ compensation claims and the associated costs. The session is open to municipal solid waste, recycling, and environmental employees, as well as workers compensation specialists.

This webinar is the second in MWMA’s 2011 "Urban Summit Series," which focuses less on PowerPoint presentations and lectures, and more on dialogue among the participants. These "closed door" sessions are a forum for public sector solid waste, recycling, environmental and other officials from cities across the country can talk openly about the challenges they face in executing successful programs.

To register for the webinar, contact Jubi Headley by phone at 202-861-6798 or jheadley@usmayors.org by e-mail, or visit the MWMA website at www.usmayors.org/mwma/meetings.asp.
