Laredo Mayor Raul G. Salinas helped celebrate Mother’s Day by presenting roses to new mothers at Doctors Hospital and Laredo Medical Center. Salinas’s mother, Dora Salinas, passed away in 1979. "Mama Dorita," as he dearly remembers her, is the reason he became the man he is now, the mayor said. "My mom was my treasure. My mom gave me all the encouragement, all the support and unconditional love," Salinas said. To honor Mama Dorita, Salinas tells children the best gift they can give their mothers is to get good educations.
