The House of Representatives approved an amendment May 9 with a 206-204 vote to the FY 2013 Commerce, Justice, Science appropriations bill that would increase funding for COPS hiring grants by $126 million. The bill reported out of Committee included just $40 million for local and state hiring grants nest year. The amendment, sponsored by New York Representative Michael Grimm, would offset the increase by reducing funding from a NASA account.
