May 11, 2009
Key representatives from many federal agencies will be coming to the 77th Annual Conference to assist mayors and their staff with implementation of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA).
The Conference of Mayors staff has been working with the White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs to establish an ARRA Resource Center at the Rhode Island Convention Center where the meeting is being held. The Center will be a place for mayors and city staff to meet with the federal staff managing the various ARRA programs and seek guidance or resolve implementation problems.
Mayors and city officials are encouraged to register for the 77th Annual Conference at usmayors.org, and come with questions on which they need assistance. In addition, the ARRA Resource Center will be a place to share best practices on the positive impact ARRA is having in cities across the country.
President of Columbia Confirmed
The Honorable Álvaro Uribe Vélez, President of Colombia, has accepted USCM President Manny Diaz’s invitation to address the 77th Annual Conference.
