San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom appeared on “Morning Joe” with host Joe Scarborough to discuss healthcare reform; his gubernatorial campaign, and California’s budget challenges. In discussing how to apply what he’s done in San Francisco to the larger health care discussion, Newsom stated, “ our universal healthcare strategy focuses on our greatest asset cities and counties. At the end of the day that were healthcare is being manifested… on the backend on the acute care side in the emergency rooms and emergency departments. The focus for us is to get Mayors engaged…. At the end of the day the people who have to deliver those results are on the grassroots level.”
