By Shannon Holmes
May 1, 2006
Youth Serve America nationally honored 26 mayors April 7 for membership in the National and Global Youth Service Day Honor Roll. Each of the mayors will be presented with this honor in ceremonies in their communities over the next several months. The Honor Roll membership is awarded to public officials who have consistantly promoted their young constituents as assets, resources, and leaders in their communities. The Honor Roll is in its second year, and has 59 members.
“The mayors have clearly demonstrated a commitment to make a seat for young people at the decision-making tables of America,” said President and CEO of Youth Service America Steve Culbertson. “This award nationally recognizes and pays tribute to public officials who’ve shown that they value the energy, idealism, and enthusiasm that youth contribute in serving their communities.”
