The U.S. Conference of Mayors has joined with the U.S. Travel Association, the leading association that promotes and advocates on behalf of the U.S. travel industry of which the Conference of Mayors is a member to launch the Vote Travel campaign. Vote Travel is a uniquely American campaign to advance policies that create more American jobs, improve the travel process, make America more competitive globally, and keep our business and meetings industry thriving. U.S. Travel has taken the campaign on the road with a coast-to-coast bus tour stopping at destinations across the country.
Travel and tourism works for America. It’s a $1.9 trillion industry that ranks among the top five private employers in the country, supporting more than 14 million American jobs. Spending by travelers is responsible for more than $113 billion in tax revenues, funds that support a host of federal and local programs.
Mayors are being asked to become a part of this effort by signing the Get America Moving Pledge. Visit the website: www.votetravel.org/pledge where you can access and sign the pledge online. In signing this pledge, mayors will stand with the 14.4 million Americans in the U.S. travel industry, supporting efforts to reduce barriers to increase travel to and within the United States, which will result in job creation and re-establishing the United States as the world’s top travel destination.
