On April 19, 2002, Michael J. Chesser, Chairman and CEO of United Water, an Ondeo Services Company, addressed the International Conference of Mayors, at the International Summit on Terrorism and Travel/Tourism in New York City.

As sponsor of this historic and prestigious event and Chairman of one of the world's premier water companies, Mr. Chesser commended the gathering of international mayors for their commitment to discussing and sharing best practices "on the most critical matters facing mayors every day'the security of their cities, the safety of their citizens, and the economic vitality created by free movement of tourists and business travelers across this country and across the globe."

Commenting on United Water's sponsorship of the event, Chesser said, "United Water and Ondeo are with you for this Summit because we understand the crucial importance of securing sufficient water supplies, treating drinking water to protect public health, and safely delivering it to homes and businesses".

Explaining that United Water operates the water system in Jersey City across the river from the World Trade Center site, Chesser said " the terrorist attack directly affected our colleagues, our families, and our communities and reaffirmed for us the importance of that 'sense of community."

Mr. Chesser applauded the leadership of Ambassador Rohatyn, who serves on the Board of Directors of SUEZ, for helping bring together mayors from across the Atlantic for the Transatlantic Summits in Lyon and Berlin, and now from across the continents to share challenges, exchange ideas and to develop solutions. He also recognized New Orleans Mayor and President Marc Morial and Executive Director Tom Cochran for their leadership and vision in founding the International Conference of Mayors.

He closed by saying "As mayors from around the world working together, you are pursuing what is a key principle for United Water and Ondeo and SUEZ, too'local action with global resources. I wish you well and pledge the commitment of our Group to support you. I look forward to continuing to work with you.
