Miami and Mayor Diaz Partner with Nationwide, Mentor Young Students on Importance of Financial Education
April 26, 2004
Miami Mayor Manny Diaz, in conjunction with Nationwide Retirement Solutions, read an updated version of The Three Little Pigs: A Financial Fairy Tale to the children of Holmes Elementary School in the city on the afternoon of Monday April 12th. The event was part of Nationwide's national campaign to promote and educate children about the importance of financial management and the benefits of having a plan to spend, save and share.
In December 2003, Diaz launched Miami's Mentoring Initiative a program designed to improve the grades and quality of life for the children who attend the city's schools. Holmes Elementary School was chosen as the first site for the program. The plan calls on a number of local agencies to take an active interest and play an active role in the education of Miami's children.
