Conference President Garner Names 2004 Conference Nominating Committee

Conference President Hempstead Mayor James A. Garner appointed on March 26, an eleven member nominating committee responsible for nominating four individuals: one Trustee and three Advisory Board members to serve in the leadership of the U. S. Conference of Mayors. The Committee will meet in Boston at the 72nd Annual Meeting of the Conference on Saturday, June 26, 2004.

Conference Trustee and DeKalb Mayor Greg Sparrow will chair the committee. Other members include Louisville-Metro Mayor Jerry Abramson; Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley; Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino; Charleston (SC) Mayor Joseph P. Riley; Palatine Mayor Rita L. Mullins; Richmond (CA) Mayor Irma L. Anderson; Las Vegas Mayor Oscar B. Goodman; Jackson Mayor Harvey Johnson; Burnsville Mayor Elizabeth B. Kautz; and Fort Collins Mayor Ray Martinez. Alternates named to the committee include Virginia Beach Mayor Meyera E. Oberndorf and Newark (CA) Mayor David W. Smith.

Mayors interested in serving in the leadership of the Conference of Mayors should submit a letter of interest to all nominating committee members, as well as the Executive Director of the Conference.
