Travel and Tourism on Mayors' Agenda in April

Two national meetings on travel and tourism will be taking place during the month of April in Washington, D.C.. On, April 8, the Conference of Mayors Travel and Tourism Task Force will meet under the leadership of Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin. The agenda will include the latest on the new international destination marketing campaign being developed by the Department of Commerce, and the establishment of a Travel and Tourism Advisory Board. Members of the Travel Business Roundtable and the International Association of Convention and Visitor Bureaus will also be participating. That evening, the Task Force members will have dinner with the chief executive officers of the companies who are members of the Travel Business Roundtable.
The next day, on April 9, the mayors will participate in an national conference on travel and tourism being sponsored by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the Travel Business Roundtable. A number of high-ranking Administration and Congressional leaders will be participating including Secretary of Commerce Don Evans. Mayor Franklin will be one of the presenters at the opening keynote session.
