In June 2011, Baltimore City will have the distinct honor of hosting the Annual Meeting of the United States Conference of Mayors. It is an honor for Baltimore, and I am excited at the prospect of hosting the largest meeting of national political leaders Maryland has ever seen.

This Annual Meeting is an opportunity for you, the leaders of our nation’s largest cities, to discuss common policy issues, share effective governing practices, and adopt inuential resolutions about matters that affect everyone. It is also an opportunity to showcase the great progress being made in Baltimore, as well as highlight our dynamic cultural attractions.

It is my goal that Baltimore be the best host city that the U.S. Conference of Mayors has ever had! Our theme for the Annual Meeting is “Oh Say Can you See Baltimore”, which highlights Baltimore’s rich history and bright future.

I greatly look forward to hosting the United States Conference of Mayors 2011 Annual Meeting and I will see you in June, here in Baltimore.
