President Barak Obama has issued an Executive Order calling on his Cabinet to develop additional ideas to increase international inbound travel to the United States. These ideas will help form a National Strategy for Travel and Tourism.
The Executive Order calls for recommendations to promote visits to the United States, including obtaining a greater share of long-haul travel from Brazil, China, and India. Barriers to increasing the United States market share of worldwide travel would also be identified.
The U.S. Conference of Mayors has adopted a number of travel and tourism resolutions calling for the US government to do more to improve the competitive position of the United States in attracting international visitors and increasing domestic travel to promote economic growth and job creation here at home.
