Houston has successfully integrated IntelliCast Target Notification into their emergency management plans. Mayor Lee Brown and local public safety officials selected the IntelliCast Target Notification system, designed by Intrado, because of its ability to rapidly distribute information in response to a crisis situation.
As a major port city and home to numerous petrochemical facilities, Houston is a recognized target for potential danger and must maintain a high level of readiness. A critical component of the IntelliCast system is the city's ability to quickly identify, notify and instruct residents during all types of emergencies. Prior to implementing IntelliCast Target Notification, the city relied on more time consuming means such as door to door notifications and sirens. With IntelliCast Target Notification, Houston is now able to distribute critical information better and faster.
Mayor Brown said, "Other notification systems are too slow in getting the word out to our citizens, too limited in their ability to perform massive notifications, and subject to fail when needed most. IntelliCast Target Notification was truly the only tool available today with a proven track record of getting the job done, time after time."
