Conference Issues Request for Proposals for HIV Prevention Grants

On February 12 The U.S. Conference of Mayors issued its Request for Proposals (RFP) for a new round of HIV prevention grants totaling $420,000. The RFP is being sent to local health departments, non-profit community-based organizations, and Native American tribes nationwide. Grants ranging from $45-55,000 will be awarded to three projects for prevention among Native Americans, and from $65-70,000 to four prevention interventions for women at high risk of HIV infection. The deadline for receipt of proposals is April 19, 1999.

HIV prevention is one of the Health Programs of USCM and is funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) under a Collaborative Agreement that is now in its 15th year. Since its inception $9.8 million has been awarded to 205 locally-based HIV/AIDS prevention projects nationwide.
