House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Charles Rangel (NY), a long-time supporter of The U.S. Conference of Mayors, addressed the 75th Winter Meeting during a reception January 24 at the National Building Museum.

Rangel spoke about the importance of fighting illegal guns, and the new bi-partisan “Congressional Task Force on Illegal Guns” led by Rangel, and Representatives John Conyers, Jr. (MI), Peter King (NY) and Mark Kirk (IL).

This new Task Force was first announced during the Mayors Against Illegal Guns summit held January 23 prior to the 75th Winter Meeting, led by Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino and New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg.

Chairman Rangel also discussed the importance of investing in cities.
