New USCM-New York University Partnership Announced
February 12, 2007
Conference of Mayors Executive Director Tom Cochran announced a new partnership between the Conference and the Robert F. Wagner School of Public Service at New York University. “It is only fitting that we have this partnership, as the Wagner School is the only major school of government in this country named after a mayor who also served as one of the Conference’s past presidents,” stated Cochran. Robert F. Wagner, the former mayor of New York City served as the 14th president of the Conference of Mayors from 1957-58.
“With this new partnership, we will be working with the Wagner School to undertake projects and programs that will lend support and validation to our efforts here at the Conference as well as lend support to your efforts back in your communities,” he added.
Joining in making the joint announcement was Rogan Kersh, Associate Professor of Public Service and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at the Wagner School. Kersh cited three areas that they will be working with the Conference on — research on issues that the Conference is addressing; establishing a mayors fellows program; and undertaking activities to strengthen mayoral leadership.
Additional information on this new partnership will be shortly forthcoming.
