Clinton Climate Initiative Chairman Ira Magaziner discussed the initial elements of the new Conference/CCI Partnership during the January 24 Plenary Session. He explained how this new collaborative can support mayors and their efforts to increase energy efficiency by retrofitting city-owned buildings and play a larger role in promoting the more rapid deployment of new green technologies.
The Conference of Mayors and the Mayors Climate Protection Center is on the front lines of our fight on climate change, Magaziner told the mayors. He framed the key opportunities that the Conference/CCI partnership will deliver to mayors, providing context for discussions to be held later in the day during a special mayors' workshop on the partnership.
Explaining the broad outlines the partnership activities that are now under development by Conference and CCI staff, Magaziner said, We are going to jumpstart the market, and then build a bigger market for these projects.
In his comments, Magaziner indicated that the two organizations are working together to launch these new programs, stating, The goal of this partnership is to make it as user-friendly as possible. Mayors were advised to look for specific mailings directly from the Conference on details of the partnership.
