Speaking at the January 27 closing plenary session, Membership Chair and Burnsville Mayor Elizabeth Kautz challenged the Mayors to significantly increase the membership of the Conference of Mayors by the Annual Meeting in Las Vegas. In addition to reporting on the comprehensive membership strategic plan, which was unveiled at the Long Beach Leadership Meeting last September, Kautz also reported on the newly created “One Mayor – One Member” recruitment campaign. Kautz highlighted various aspects of the campaign, including Annual Meeting registration fee waiver for mayors who recruit one new member by May 20006. In concluding her remarks Kautz said, “An organization is only as strong as its membership. So let’s go recruit.”
