Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake invited mayors to attend the 79th Annual Meeting taking place June 17-21 in her city of Baltimore, during the Thursday afternoon Plenary Lunch of the 79th Winter Meeting.
Rawlings-Blake invited and welcomed the mayors to Baltimore by showcasing all the attractions and events the mayors will see and take part in.
"Our goal for the conference is to tell the story of Baltimore. We want to share our history, our culture, our renaissance," said Rawlings-Blake.
On Friday evening during the first night of the conference, mayors are invited to an evening of dinner and music at the Frederick Douglass — Isaac Myers Maritime Park, right on Baltimore's historic waterfront.
On Saturday evening, Fort McHenry will play host to the mayors as we celebrate the origin of the Star Spangled Banner with a Maryland Crab Feast and fireworks.
Sunday evening will bring mayors face-to-face with the Baltimore Renaissance as mayors and their families will enjoy Baltimore's Clipper Hill, an area full of art studios, restaurants, and more.
The final evening of the conference will feature the crazy side of Baltimore, all taking place at the American Visionary Arts Museum, a uniquely creative museum that will feature multiple floors of music and food along with Baltimore's very own musical talent, the Hons.
In the coming months, usmayors.org will have more information about the June meeting. The host committee's web site, uscm2011.com has information about these evening activities, spouse and youth events, and more.
