Meeting for their second time, the mayors of cities with major leagues sports teams (NFL, BA, NHL, and MLB) discussed next steps to more formally organized themselves and what activities to undertake in this current year.
Chaired by Indianapolis Mayor Gregory Ballad, the mayors reviewed their activities following the first meeting in Baltimore at the Conference of Mayors Annual Meeting last June. Mayors co'signed letters to the National Football League, National Basketball Association and their players associations asking them to resolve their labor disputes.
As for moving forward, the mayors decided to organize themselves more formally before the upcoming annual meeting in June, and to work on compiling an index of economic factors on ways major league sports benefit cities economically.
The mayors will meet next during the Conference of Mayors 80th Annual Meeting in Orlando.
