January 20, 2003

As Conference Transportation Chair Fort Worth Mayor Kenneth L. Barr rallies the nation's mayors on the reauthorization of the Transportation Equity Act for the 21st Century (TEA-21), the U.S. House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee is accepting member's reauthorization project request identifying projects that are of significant importance to the improvement of our Nation's surface transportation infrastructure.

Mayors are urged to contact their Congressional delegation and urge support for transportation projects that address increasing metropolitan congestion and supports greater investment in transit, promotes passenger rail investment, and metropolitan highway system preservation.

All projects must be submitted to House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure by February 28, 2003.
