Conference President Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino sent the following letter to President Bush on October 28 urging that the Administration support a national ballistics or “crime bullet” imaging and identification system. The U.S. Conference of Mayors has a long history of supporting crime reduction and gun safety issues, and recently co-hosted a meeting on the subject of ballistics tracing with the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence which was also attended law enforcement organizations and city representatives.
