MISCELLANEOUS
RESOLUTION THANKING MAYOR MARC MORIAL OF NEW
ORLEANS FOR HOSTING THE 67TH ANNUAL CONFERENCE OF MAYORS
WHEREAS, the people of the great City of New Orleans, also known as the Big
Easy, have played gracious hosts to the Mayors of this nation for the past week; and
WHEREAS, The spirit of New Orleansits charm, its graciousness, its embrace
of diversity, and its cultural abundanceare nowhere better represented and embodied
than through the Mayor of this wonderful city, Marc Morial; and
WHEREAS, It is evident to all that, like his beloved and legendary father, the
late Mayor Ernest "Dutch" Morial, Mayor Marc Morial has created in this city a
sense of community and accomplishment in which all the residents of New Orleans, and
indeed our nation, can take pride; and
WHEREAS, Mayors across the country must safeguard their city monikers, for New
Orleans could just as easily be dubbed The City That Never Sleeps, The
City of Industry, or The City of Brotherly Love; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Morial and his staff have planned a wonderful meeting for us, and
treated us to wonderful food, exemplary service, and outstanding entertainment; and
WHEREAS, above all, Mayor Morial, his staff, and the people of this great city
have been easy in offering their friendshipa characteristic of this city
that beyond all else leaves a lasting impression with any visitor, and causes them, as
they leave by plane, train and automobile, to immediately begin plans for their next trip
to New Orleans;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayors of the United States, joined by
their families, staff, the staff of the Conference of Mayors, and all other conference
participants hereby thank Mayor Morial, his wonderful staff, and all who contributed to
this meeting for all their efforts; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the mayors of this country assembled here in New
Orleans and all conference participants wish Mayor Morial and his family happiness and the
very best of everything always and salute "The Big Easy," where we know we are
always welcome.
