MAYOR JEFF GRIFFIN OF RENO HOST OF THE 66TH ANNUAL CONFERENCE OF MAYORS

WHEREAS, Mayor Jeff Griffin has opened the city of Reno to the 66th Annual Meeting of The United States Conference of Mayors, from June 19-23, 1998; and

WHEREAS, under the leadership of Mayor Griffin, the mayors of America, their spouses and staff, and all other conference participants have participated in an outstanding array of events, both substantive and entertaining; and

WHEREAS, Mayor Griffin has made sure that all events were designed to stimulate our minds, our palates, and our appreciation for the variety of wonders of the city of Reno and its surroundings – the early morning walking tours and the Bonanza Hayride Breakfast and Tour of the Ponderosa Ranch; the National Automobile Museum; the rodeo and the Wild West Barbecue and concert at Rancharrah; the Mayors Challenge Bowling Tournament; the Avenue of the Arts Reception and Pops in the Park Dinner and Concert; and

WHEREAS, Mayor Griffin and his staff, as well as all the wonderful volunteers from all over the city, worked tirelessly and with enthusiasm to make the participants in this conference feel welcome in the "Biggest Little City in the World"; and

WHEREAS, because of his creativity, dedication, and leadership, this 66th Annual Conference ranks as one of the best The United States Conference has ever had,

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the mayors of the United States, joined by their families, staff, the staff of the Conference of Mayors, and all other conference participants to thank Mayor Griffin, his wonderful staff, and all who contributed to this meeting for all their efforts; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the mayors of this country assembled here in Reno and all conference participants wish Mayor Griffin and his family happiness and the very best of everything always and salute "The Biggest Little City with the Biggest Heart in the World."
