HIV/AIDS Prevention
USCM was one of the first national organizations to respond to the AIDS epidemic. At the urging of former San Francisco mayor Dianne Feinstein, in 1984 USCM established an HIV/AIDS Program and developed a HIV/AIDS Prevention Grants Program with funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Now in its twentieth year, the USCM-CDC collaborative program consists of three primary components in the form of the Prevention Grants Program, Prevention Publications and Technical Assistance, each of which is outlined below.
