ABOUT THE CAMPAIGN

THE DOLLAR WI$E CAMPAIGN PARTNERSHIP

The U.S. Conference of Mayors' Council for the New American City is a coalition of non-profit groups, corporations, and businesses that share a common goal of increasing investment in American cities. The DOLLAR WI$E Campaign grew out of a desire on the part of the Council Members to help consumers learn more about financial issues and to empower them to become investors in their communities.

By joining the DOLLAR WI$E Campaign, mayors agree to organize and implement local financial literacy programs in their communities using materials supplied by the Council Members. Mayors are strongly encouraged to support and enhance existing financial literacy opportunities that may already be underway within their communities. The campaign will focus on areas of education, credit card and debt management, savings, and home ownership.

THE DOLLAR WI$E CAMPAIGN AND CAPACITY GRANTS PROGRAM PRESENTED BY COUNTRYWIDE FINANCIAL

Countrywide Financial Corporation, a founding sponsor of the Dollar WI$E campaign, recently formed a strategic alliance with the United States Conference of Mayors to enhance the campaign and create the DOLLAR WI$E Capacity Grants Program.

Through Countrywide's donation totaling $1,000,000, the DOLLAR WI$E Campaign will continue to provide resources needed to educate citizens about personal financial issues and will also provide for Capacity Grants awarded to Mayors and Cities that have demonstrated success within their existing financial literacy education campaigns and are seeking to increase capacity through expanded programs and services.

Since 1969, Countrywide has helped millions of American families realize the dream of homeownership, offering products and services including Banking, Insurance, Capital Markets, Loan Closing Services and Global Operations.

OTHER PARTICIPANTS

In addition to the Council Members, The Federal Reserve Board of the United States has agreed to advise USCM on the DOLLAR WI$E Campaign. Federal Reserve Banks nationwide sponsor financial activities, including initiatives like the Chicago Federal Reserve Bank's week-long "Money$mart" program teaming mayors, local businesses and non-profit organizations to promote financial literacy.
