U.S. Conference of Mayors’ Climate Protection Agreement
(900+ cities are signed on so far), but also by hosting

recognition of Earth Day, a green aquatic habitat
will be installed in Lake Eola in Downtown Orlando.
The floating mats, habitat and lush wetland
vegetation are the artistic expression of Jefre
Figueras Manuel, known as JEFRĖ, an inventive public
artist based in the City Arts Factory. JEFRĖ's green
piece has a number of ecological benefits, such as
the aquatic grasses composed of Yellow Canna, Soft
Rush and Bent Grass will help regulate water levels,
oxygenate the water, control nutrients, remove
pesticides, purify water quality and provide habitat
for the local birds and wildlife.

residents can see their greenhouse gas contributions
and take specific actions such as alternative-fuel

energy use. Citizens can then share their climate
actions with others via social networking. In the
process of using EcoMap, residents become more
environmentally aware and change their behaviors in
environmentally positive ways.
