|Summit October 21-22 on "Building Clean, Livable Cities"
Plan now to save the date of October 21-22, 1999 for the U.S. Conference of Mayors' National Summit, entitled "Building Clean, Livable Cities." The Summit will be held in Tampa, Florida, at the Hyatt Regency Westshore.
The Summit is the centerpiece of the U.S. Conference of Mayors' Urban Litter Partnership with Keep America Beautiful, Inc., and will focus on identifying solutions to those issues that impact the quality of life in urban areas - issues like grafitti, illegal dumping, and the municipal management of litter, including abandoned vehicles, old tires, and construction and demolition debris in vacant lots. The U.S. Conference of Mayors will also unveil its Best Practices Guide for litter and illegal dumping during the Summit.
This Summit promises to be a unique opportunity for key local government decision makers, nonprofit organizations, and private industry to explore innovative and cost-effective solutions to the problems of illegal dumping and urban litter in their cities. Mayors, environmental commissioners, city managers, solid waste directors, Keep America Beautiful affiliates, and key representatives from the business community will be in attendance.
Registration and hotel information was mailed out to all mayors in early July. The early registration deadline is September 15 and rooms in our hotel block are filling up quickly, so do not delay! If you have any questions about the Summit, please feel free to contact Jennifer DeLong at (202) 861-6776.
We look forward to seeing you in Tampa!
