Republican Mayors will converge on Philadelphia
from July 31 though August 3 as part of a coalition of state and local
elected organizations. The coalition includes: Republican Mayors and Local
Officials (RMLO); Republican Attorney Generals Association; National
Conference of Republican County Officials; National Republican Legislators
Association; Republican Lt. Governors Caucus; Republican Association of
Secretaries of State; Republican State Treasurers Caucus.
RMLO has worked with the other coalition
members, as well as organizations such as The U.S. Conference of Mayors,
in planning a number of activities. Conference President Boise Mayor H.
Brent Coles will attend and be an active participant in Convention
activities.
Sunday, July 30: Local and State
Opening Event
On Sunday evening, July 31, there will be a
State and Local Opening Gala to welcome officials to the Philadelphia
convention. The location of the Sunday evening event has been moved to the
Loews Hotel, Millennium Hall from 7:00 to 9:00pm. The hotel is located at
1200 Market Street (215-627-1200).
Tuesday, August 1: Mayors
Dinner
On Tuesday, August 1, there will be a
Mayors-Only Late Night Dinner hosted by RMLO and its President Mayor Hal
Daub of Omaha, The U.S. Conference of Mayors and its President Boise Mayor
H. Brent Coles, and the National League of Cities and its President
Wichita Mayor Bob Knight. The dinner will be held at the Philadelphia
Marriott from 9:00pm to 1:00am. This event will include a reception and
dinner, followed by late night entertainment and live music.
The Convention
In terms of the convention itself, the
coalition will have space in the Pavilion Area between the First Union
Center and the Philadelphia Spectrum. The Pavilion Area will provide an
opportunity for the coalition, other alliances and organizations to
socialize in an open forum. The coalition will also have two sky suites in
the First Union Center every night of the convention.
Convention sessions will be held on Monday
morning, and from 7:00 to 11:00pm on Monday through Thursday
evenings.
