With the Republican National Convention in
Philadelphia less than one month away, the Republican Mayors and Local
Officials (RMLO) has prepared an active schedule of events for its members
and colleagues designed to highlight the role of Republican mayors and
local officials in the national arena. RMLO will converge on Philadelphia from July 31
though August 3 as part of a coalition of state and local elected
organizations. The coalition includes: RMLO has worked with the other coalition members, as well as organizations such as The U.S. Conference of Mayors, in planning a number of activities. On Sunday evening, July 30, there will be a State and Local Opening Gala to welcome officials to the Philadelphia convention at the Municipal Service Plaza (across from City Hall) from 6:00 to 9.00pm. The event will be the first opportunity for coalition members, friends and colleagues to gather. On Tuesday, August 1, there will be a Mayors-Only Late Night Dinner hosted by RMLO and The U.S. Conference of Mayors at the Philadelphia Marriott from 9:00pm to 1:00am. This event will include a reception and dinner, followed by late night entertainment and live music. In terms of the convention itself, the coalition will have space in Pavilion Area between the First Union Center and the Philadelphia Spectrum. The Pavilion Area will provide an opportunity for the coalition, other alliances and organizations to socialize in an open forum. The coalition has also petitioned for a club-level suite in the First Union Center every night of the convention.
