| Christina Mattin Awards to
Recognize Arts Programs By Sharon Oxley  Providence Mayor Vincent A. Cianci, Jr. announced the availability of the Christina Mattin Arts Award for Programs Reaching Youth At-risk. "As you may remember, last January we announced that Christina Mattin has generously agreed to sponsor an awards program honoring city arts programs in dance, theater, music, the visual arts and other artistic media reaching at-risk youth." Mayor Cianci encouraged mayors to enter in the awards competition which will award three cash prizes to winning communities. The deadline for applications is September 30, 1999 and award winners will be announced at the Winter Meeting in Washington in January 2000. "The woman who has made this all possible is my good friend, Christina Mattin. I want to personally thank her for her commitment to both the arts and reaching at-risk children in America’s Cities," Cianci concluded.
