| Mayor Archer And DNC Chairman
Announce Democratic Mayors Campaign Committee In a very high spirited June 11 meeting, Detroit Mayor Dennis Archer, president of the National Conference of Democratic Mayors (NCDM), and Joe Andrew, national chair, Democratic National Committee, unveiled plans to establish a Democratic Mayors Campaign Committee. The committee will coordinate with and provide services to Democratic incumbent mayors and mayoral candidates from tiny towns to major urban centers to assist them in running top-notch campaigns. In building upon the NCDM, the Democratic Mayors Campaign Committee will provide post-primary services to all Democratic mayors, similar to the Democratic Governors Association. In addition to Mayor Archer, this effort will be spearheaded by the officers and chairs of the NCDM. Democratic mayors also heard presentations from members of the NCDM Mayors Trust, a program which serves as the financial base for the organization and includes 19 member businesses, labor unions and trade associations.
