Governor Ventura Recognizes Drugs in Prisons as Problem
By Ed Somers
While in Washington, DC for the National Governors' Association Winter Meeting, Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura addressed the National Press Club.
When asked about the war against drugs, Ventura urged a stepped-up effort on demand reduction. The Governor then remarked, "My goodness, we have drugs in Stillwater State Prison. These people are locked up 24 hours a day. If we can't keep them out of the prisons, how are we going to stop it out in the free world on a street corner?"
