Reached on Aviation Bill
Agreement Reached on Aviation
Bill At press time, House and Senate negotiators reached an agreement
on a multi-year aviation bill, providing $40 billion over three years for
airport investment and FAA operations. It also provides for the first time
that airline user fees and taxes that flow to the Aviation Trust Fund will
be used only for aviation construction projects. Local airports will be
allowed to raise Passenger Facility Charges by $1.50, up to a maximum of
$4.50 per passenger per airport. The Conference report is now being
finalized, with final action by the full House and Senate as early as this
week.
