3 Com Announces Second Round of Urban Challenge Winners

3Com Corporation announced its second round of Urban Challenge winners during the Winter Meeting. 3Com will provide $1 million in grants to 10 cities for the second year in a row. Announcing the winners was Larry Geller, Director of the Digital Opportunity Program at 3Com. The winners will each receive a $100,000 grant in the form of 3Com systems and services to help cities bridge the "digital divide."

Winners of this year's Urban Challenge are Atlanta, Mayor Bill Campbell; Detroit, Mayor Dennis W. Archer; Fort Worth, Mayor Kenneth L. Barr; Indianapolis, Mayor Bart Peterson; Minneapolis, Mayor Sharon Sayles Belton; Oakland, Mayor Jerry Brown; Philadelphia, Mayor John F. Street; Sandy City, UT, Mayor Thomas M. Dolan; Troy, NY, Mayor Mark Pattison; Vineland, NJ, Mayor Perry Barse.

3Com launched its first Urban Challenge in 1999 when they awarded $1 million in grants to 10 cities at the Winter Meeting in January 2000.
