250 Mayors To Show Support For Amtrak, Travel To NYC via Acela Express On January 24 Press Conference with Amtrak President at 1:00 p.m. at Washington's Union Station
WASHINGTON (January 23, 2002) - On Thursday, January 24, 2002, more than 250 mayors will demonstrate their support for Amtrak and the people of New York, traveling by train together for a special U.S. Conference of Mayors meeting in the Big Apple. The meeting will focus on efforts to revive the U.S. economy.
Before embarking on a special Amtrak's Acela Express, the mayors will hold a press conference with Amtrak President George Warrington.

Mayors and pre-cleared press depart Washington on Amtrak Acela Express at 2:00 p.m. Those wishing to accompany mayors on Amtrak should contact Lina Garcia at (202) 744-2959, or Andy Solomon at (202) 744-3117 in advance to reserve a seat. Members of the media must be on the train no later than 1:50 p.m.
