Washington, DC U.S. Conference of Mayors (USCM) CEO and Executive Director Tom Cochran today released the following statement on the death of John Timoney:

Americas mayors and Americas cities have lost a great one. John Timoney was totally dedicated to being the best, and he was the best. He respected The United States Conference of Mayors and worked with us to demonstrate that it takes mayors and police chiefs working together to make our cities safer. We need him now more than ever. Former Miami Mayor and Conference of Mayors President Manny Diaz gave us a gift during his Presidency, and that gift was sharing Chief Timoney with the mayors and with me and my staff.”

“John Timoney was fun, smart, quick-witted, always humble, and always appreciative of the opportunity America gave him after he arrived from Ireland at the age of 13.”

“Rest in Peace Chief Timoney, and until we meet again may God hold you in the palm of his hand.
